If you’re like me, you have barely been outside the California border and are DYING to travel. Well, you can feel one step closer to making it to Australia someday at BRONZED AUSSIE in the heart of Downtown Los Angeles. This tiny little shop in a random “mall” will certainly surprise you. Owned and run by born-and-raised Australian, Samantha, Bronzed Aussie is known to locals, tourists, and celebrities (like Iggy Azeala!) for authentic meat pies. I learned that, in Australia, meat pies are an extremely common snack, meal, or treat. Grab a pie, a bottle of ketchup, and you’re set. Samantha is baking these five-inch delicacies fresh all day, but you can also buy frozen to-go.
Aside from the traditional ground beef pie, Samantha offers numerous other flavors as well. Personally, I liked the Thai chicken, the veggie “brekkie”, and chunky beef. Be sure to try out the sausage and spinach/feta rolls as well! These are kind of like Wetzel-Pretzel dog-shaped savory pastries.
If you’re sweet-tooth is hurting, grab a “Lamington”, too! Angel food cake covered in chocolate, then rolled in coconut. Think of a very fancy Ho-ho cake. Super good.
