Can’t Get Enough! Colleary’s Bistro & Bakery

Easily overlooked, Colleary’s is nestled in a tiny strip mall near a Target off of Tustin Ave. I had been driving past this place ever since they opened a couple years ago. Little did I know what I was missing!

Colleary’s is owned and operated by Marty Colleary and his business partner Jen. The funny story? Marty used to own Rockwell’s Bakery!

Colliery’s is serving much more than just amazing cakes, cookies, and pastries, however. They are open everyday for breakfast, lunch, and dinner; and you cannot go wrong with any meal. Plus, they offer $10 bottom-less mimosas EVERYDAY at breakfast. Yes, the price point is also very reasonable here, especially since (unlike most little cafes) they are using fresh, seasonal ingredients and making pretty much everything from scratch.

If you’re dining for breakfast….

  • Chorizo Omelette : I honestly don’t like or eat eggs unless they are REALLY good, and I have to admit… this was the best omelette I have ever had. Not sure what it was about it, but it was just perfect.
  • Any of the Pancakes with CORNED BEEF : All pancakes/French toast come with a side of meat. Colleary’s has KILLER corned beef!

Lunch or Dinner You Say? :

  • Strawberry and Spinach Toss Salad : House-made lemon poppy seed dressing.. Dare I say more?
  • Bistro Bruschetta : SO good! Fresh, light, refreshing. I am OBSESSED with their flatbread, which is also the base for the bruschetta !
  • Mushroom & Spinach Flatbread : It has goat cheese, so naturally I love it- but you really cannot go wrong with any of their flatbreads.
  • CHICKEN & MUSHROOM RISOTTO : This is hands-down my favorite dish at Colleary’s because it is the BEST risotto I have found at any restaurant. Not sure how they do it, but it’s G-O-O-D.
  • Complimentary Bread (only at dinner) : Fresh, house-baked focaccia bread with tomato dipping sauce. Honestly, I would come to dinner just for this. It’s VERY tasty.

Now You’re Ready for Dessert, Huh? :

  • Coconut Cake : I’m not a coconut person, and honestly, prior to Colleary’s, their was only one cake in the world that I actually enjoy. This coconut cake will change your life.
  • Butter Sugar Cookies : I call these magic cookies, because they crumble as you pick them up, then melt in your mouth. Poof and they’re gone- but you are so satisfied.

Sauce Boss Suggestions : Do not forget a side of bistro aioli. Super good, and perfect for your dipping needs.

All in all? Head to Orange and pop in for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or just to satisfy your sweet tooth. Support small businesses and enjoy some GOOD food.
