Every season, a new menu rolls out at True Food Kitchen, and I get the honor of visiting to check out those new items. Not to fear, though- all of the staple-menu items stay, and a couple new ones come to play!
The Newport Beach location (at Fashion Island) is where I always dine, and let me just say… service has proved to be consistently amazing; which always blows my mind! I’m talking NEVER less than above-and-beyond perfect, which is extremely rare to see with a restaurant these days- especially with a chain.
On my latest visit, I tried a couple of the new items, along with a few typical items that I’ve seemingly overlooked the past few visits.
As for the rest of the feast.. :
- Seasonal Ingredient (V GF) Salad
brussels sprout, butternut squash, cauliflower, white bean, pomegranate, toasted mulberry, horseradish vinaigrette : To be honest, I didn’t make it
to most of this salad, because everything else was SO GOOD. I do have to say, I LOVED the Horseradish Vinaigrette… I got an additional side of it, and I probably could drink it… - Mediterranean Quinoa (VEG GF) Salad
persian cucumber, olive, peppadew, cherry tomato, pole bean, feta, almond, oregano vinaigrette : When my awesome server suggested this salad, I realized I
had never tried it, but was worried it sounded a little boring… WOW I was wrong. This is probably one of my top 3 favorite items at TFK now. Do NOT categorize this salad as “just another Mediterranean salad,” because it is so much more! - Winter Squash Toast (V)
brussels sprout, caramelized onion, lemon, saba, hazelnut : By the time I ate this, it was a bit soggy, so I’m not sure if that is how it came out,
or if it sat too long… The flavors were good, however, and I’d recommend trying it if you love butternut squash! - Red Chili Noodles (VEG)
gai lan, zucchini, shiitake mushroom, snow pea, cashew : Omg…. Where have these been my whole life?
I slurped these down like no other. Between this and the Teriyaki Quinoa bowl, I have to say that they are 2 best items at TFK. -
Teriyaki Quinoa (V)
broccoli, heirloom carrot, bok choy, mushroom, brown rice, avocado, toasted sesame : This is not just a teriyaki bowl. Oh no… This is the Beverly Hills of teriyaki bowls. This is the best teriyaki bowl I have ever had. Oh yes… The flavors are just
indescribable. The house-made teriyaki sauce is just stellar, and paired with the veggies, brown rice, and avocado… it really is just an amazing, drool-worthy combination. PRO-Tip: Ask for a side of Umami sauce… Your tastebuds are going to flip out over the flavor-goodness…
So, per usual, my visit to True Food Kitchen was beyond amazing. Was it the great service? Was it the amazing food? Nope. It was the unheard of, remarkable, consistently amazing balance of both!
It is true. I love True Food Kitchen!
