  • 2 eggs, stirred
  • 1 cup rice crumbs
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon red chili flakes
  • salt and fresh ground pepper, to taste
  • vegetable or canola oil, for frying
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil or vegetable oil
  • ¼ cup Lahtt Sauce Chili Oil
  • ½ cup honey
  • ½ cup soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoons rice wine vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sriracha
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • ¼ cup water
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • toasted sesame seeds, for garnish
  • chopped green onions, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Add eggs to a large ziploc bag; add cauliflower florets, close the bag, and shake it around until everything is well combined.
  2. In a separate bowl, combine rice crumbs and spices. Pour in to the cauliflower bag and shake it around until everything is well combined.
  3. Heat a deep pot with about 4 inches of vegetable or canola oil. Once hot, fry cauliflower in batches until crispy (usually takes me about 5-6 minutes per batch).
  4. In the meantime, prepare the sauce.
  5. In a pot set over medium heat, combine sesame oil, Lahtt Sauce, honey, soy sauce, vinegar, sriracha and garlic; bring to a simmer.
  6. Simmer for 10 minutes.
  7. In a small mixing bowl off to the side, combine cornstarch and water and stir until cornstarch is dissolved.
  8. Add cornstarch mixture to soy sauce mixture and stir to combine; remove from heat.
  9. In a serving bowl, mix the fried cauliflower and sauce.
  10. Garnish with toasted sesame seeds and green onions.
