Exploring Paris in Segway-Style with Fat Tire Tours

When traveling to a new country, region, or city, I always feel like there is way too much to see, learn, and do in a limited amount of time. I have found that the best solution to this conundrum is always some sort of city tour with a local guide to see and learn, whether it be through food, art, music, or history. As a foodie, typically that is a food tour. However, while in Paris on my most recent trip, I was very excited to find a segway(!!) city tour with the worldwide company, Fat Tire Tours.

Our group of 8 had no experience with segway riding, so our tour started out with instruction and practice from our guide, OJ. He went above-and-beyond to ensure we all felt comfortable, safe, and prepared before heading out into the streets and “wild” of Paris city. Once we all were ready, the tour started and I was constantly humming the song “Following the Leader” from Peter Pan in my head as we navigated the city while staying in a line behind OJ to ensure safety. During the two hour tour, we made about five stops where we would see and learn something in and about the city. This included Napoleon’s tomb, the military school that Napoleon attended, the Alexander III Bridge, the UNESCO office building, of course, the Eiffel Tower, and more. In just two hours, I felt like I had a great understanding for the city and its history.

Best of all, the tours are kept to a small size which allows for personal connections within the group and with the guide (which is fantastic for people like me who have a million questions!). If you are looking for a fun and unique way to get to know Paris, the Fat Tire Tours Segway tour is definitely for you!
