Enter into Paradise: The Gate Hotel Tokyo

When I started planning my Japan trip, I knew that Tokyo was going to be one of my destinations – no question about it. Now, let me tell you. This whole solo trip (3 cities, 13 days) took me 8 months to plan because, well, me being me, wanted everything to be perfect and well-researched. So when I started tackling the Tokyo itinerary and bookings, I was so overwhelmed with the number of choices for everything since it is such a massive city. It seemed like I would never be able to find the perfect hotel and make a decision – how was I going to ever choose?!

Well, eventually I did, and W.O.W. Like the rest of my hotels on this Japan trip, I have to say… I did GOOD. Located right in the heart of Ginza, the Gate Hotel by Hulic was absolutely phenomenal – I cannot say I have ever stayed anywhere as luxurious with such stellar service and amenities.

When you enter on the ground-level, you find a glimmering wall and an elevator which takes you up to the lobby on the 4th floor. Step out and you are instantly transported into paradise. During my stay, I felt like an absolute queen and couldn’t believe everything was real.

My room was situated on one of the top floors and probably the largest hotel room ever (which was shocking for Japan!). A breathtaking view of the city, a huge bathroom with such an addictive bathtub, and… (I kid you not) the COMFIEST bed I have ever slept in. Not going to lie, I am still trying to figure out where and how I can buy the bed, the mattress, the down, the pillows…. I cannot even imagine a cloud being more comfortable. Every night, I couldn’t wait to get back to my room, put on the fluffy robe, sink into a salt bubble bath, put on my pajamas, then hideaway in my bed – never wanting to leave.

During my stay, I also had access to the 13th floor Premium Lounge which had drinks, snacks, and an open-air terrace with a panoramic view of Ginza. I loved stopping by each evening before I would head out for the night, especially because the sweetest girl, Karen, was there each night serving the guests. She was always so attentive, kind, and willing to go above-and-beyond to make sure I was happy and well taken care of. All of the team at The Gate Hotel was just like this. Just another reason that made my whole experience so memorable.

The hotel also has a lobby bar and 2 restaurants. Each morning, the lobby restaurant serves a lovely buffet breakfast which I enjoyed each morning during my stay. This is something you have to do at least once during your stay- there is always someone continually pressing fresh orange juice to serve and they have their own special honey… these are two of the most divine things I have ever been blessed with tasting. If I had more room in my luggage, I would have bought 10 jars of their special honey. It tasted like liquid gold.

Returning every day and night to my current Tokyo home, I loved that I felt like I was getting out of the hustle-and-bustle craziness, but at the same time, all of the window walls and views reminded me of the amazing city I was surrounded by. Every aspect of The Gate Hotel really embodied this feeling.

“Although it is in the center of Tokyo,
A hotel where the time of each person visiting flows slowly.
From the moment you open the door, your own time begins.

OUR THE GATE HOTEL IS TO OPEN OUR OWN DOOR (GATE), TO speak.
In this hotel, as if there is a time difference from the outside world,
You may be able to feel it. Yes, it’s a special time called my time.
Please enjoy your time to your heart’s content.”

Everything about my stay was just beyond perfect. I struggled to accept the fact that I ever had to leave and can hardly wait to return (which I will for sure be doing during my next Japan trip later this year). If you are looking to splurge, treat yourself, and feel like royalty… you absolutely must stay at The Gate Hotel by Hulic in Ginza. Out of all of the choices in Tokyo, trust me. You will not regret your decision.
